Hi there, just wondering what are some decent music download programmes? I have tried Soulseek, Ares, Bearshare and Limewire but I really don't like any of those..

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Spotify is good, but they're now trying to make it so that everyone pays for their account. The free account was perfect, you were inundated with radio-like adverts but that was the price to pay, now they're putting a cap on how many times you can listen to any one song. 5 times a year to listen to your songs? Really? It's either download things illegally or pay the £10 a month on Spotify.

Wow that is pants! Guess they won't last long or another program like it will surface.

When I'm at uni I make list a playlist on youtube for songs if I have forgotton my ipod though since we can't install progarms on the unless machines.

Really? That's pants! I had a pro account for a little while coz it worked brilliantly on my phone, but have been back to free for a while now and not really used it a great deal lately. But that cap sounds ridiculous so I prob won't bother at all any more. I know there's a similar thing to Spotify that is supposed to be much better, but I can't remember what it's called right now.

Oh, and just noticed you're in Chatham. Hello from Rochester! lol

I get all my music from burning audio cds, or the torrent method, to date I have 35,000 mp3s mostly entire discographies, but then I dabble a bit in the online radio station thing (Shoutcast) and have more hard drive space than NASA lol

It's not illegal to make backups of your own stuff, or to make your own compilations from your own discs.
It's when you get stuff that you have NEVER bought that makes it illegal.

100% right. Although you have to copy/burn it yourself, no downloading even if you do own it.

Spotify is free and all legal with music and good apparently.

I'd be lost without torrents to download loads of US shows! In fact that reminds me. I totally forgot about Hight Stakes Poker! Must be 3 or 4 shows to catch up on by now!

Poker Bay here I come...

EDIT: 101 posts and made it to hatchling now. Cool! lol

an alternative (and faster!) way than torrents and other naughtyness (although its still naughty!) is to search other peoples servers and websites for them - google is your friend ;)

eg. if you want to search for Nirvana mp3s use this query:

-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" "last modified" "parent directory" description size (wma|mp3) "Nirvana"

just change inside the last quotes to whatever you like :)

Sorry I'm a bit dumb, are you trying to get music making software or software that will let you get music?

If it's the latter download http://www.utorrent.com/ and then go onto torrentz.com
