My 6wk hatchling is currently in a faunarium which is 13.5" wide, 7.5" back and 6.5" tall. How big should i let my snake get before upgrading to a bigger tank?

Ahh right. It gives the viv a cool looking texture.

Welcome to the obssession :)
West5680: Cool viv! Looks good under the tv. Just wondering, what colour wood is that? Has a cool grain pattern.

haha love it, i'm always looking for places i can fit another viv or faun in

I know that Sydney isn't going to need this for a while yet but couldn't help myself and got some tools out today. This is the end result, made to fit in a gap under out television shelf. (Still needs some tweeking, vents, door handle and locks etc)

What does everyone think?

I'm now in the process of trying to persuade the wife that the other option is, instead of waiting for snydney to get big enough to go in here we just get another snake but bigger i.e a yearling. Then when that one is ready for a bigger viv i'll upgrade it by which time Sydney will be ready to go into this one. Then I'll have a faunarium free??..............Hmm stop me now, i can see me getting carried away ha ha

It depends, I don't like the length + side rule for many reasons... your snake will be fine in it for at least another 6 months though.

great stuff, thanks guys. Have started building a new viv ready for when its time to move. I know it wont be for a while yet but I've got the bug!

The general rule is that when the length of the snake is more than the length plus the width of it's tank then it's time to upgrade to a bigger tank. So in your case, when your snake reaches over 21" (13.5" + 7.5") then it's time to move him.

i normally do it when the snake is the length of the fron and side :P
