It is indeed a banded Krait, part of the Cobra family, Elapidae!
They arent generally aggressive, but bites are nasty!

Arnt kraits very deadly but can be handled easily, dont like to bite? saw something recently with the silver and black ones really pretty though, dont think id take the chance!

That's a Banded Krait. India is a common place for them to be found, my old man got bitten by a krait when he was a little lad as well.
The use of rough rope is good with them and cobras apparently.

My nan and dad make me jealous of her stories of having to shove snakes out of bedrooms in the night.

its defo some sort of krait, watched a docu on the sea krait the other day, but they are silver and black instead of yellow.
think they origin from india, southern asia, that neck of the woods... might be wrong tho!!?!?
