i'll have a search for a habistat one then i think.

cheers.

That's the mat being faulty...not the stat. Even with a stat, mats can fault and cause fires. Just don't buy cheap inked mats from China on ebay and you'll be fine :p I've heard of mats and stat breaking when there is thunderstomes and things aren't on a power surge protector, just to add to scare you there :D

I'm another Habistat user. Hardly get any fluctuation and thats with the basic on/off matstat.

under 20 quid from surrey pet supplies.

You can get pulse stats which keep a very consistent temperature, but they are more expensive and aren't really needed for a hardy snake like a corn. Then there are dimming stats which work with heat lamps.

But a corn on a heatmat really needs nothing more than a basic on/off. I have 4 habistats and one microclimate, and recommend the habistat every time. But that's me personally. I know there are plenty of others using microclimate quite happily.

You can get stats that work differently and obviously some are better than others. But you don't really NEED anything more than a basic on/off stat.

The 2 big ones are the habistat and the microclimate. The microclimate, in my experience, is not as good as the habistat. It's cut in/off points seem to give a wider swing than the habistat. But other than that there's nothing really between them.
