I've had my first snake bite!
Not quite sure why but chilli got hold of the top of my arm! She came out of her viv fine had a little wander round and went up my arm, wrapped up round it tight and struck at me and held on! Once she let go she seemed calm but kept squeezing round my arm. drew blood and everything!
She was fed monday and left her as i always do until today to handle her again, did i just catch her in a mood or is there a reason she would do this?
I was wondering if maybe she knows that charlie has moved in above her as she has been out wandering in her viv a bit more than normal the last day or so. could he be why she is being grumpy?
Charlie came out after her and had a great ol time and was perfectly fine. Why is Chilli turning on me, shes been so good up til now. Made me a bit sad :o( |

lol no it didnt hurt, just little scratches really but really took me by surprise! I wasnt expecting it from her at all as she is always so docile! Im not put off just thought it was a strange thing for her to do. She doesnt like my other half at all though so maybe she caught a wiff of him off my clothes or something (not saying he smells bad!). She has a few times striked at the glass at him and wont go near him. Maybe thats what it was, i dunno. Its ok though im not easily put off, ive been bitten by far bigger teeth! |

One offs can and do happen. its odd she struck the top of your arm but just draw a line under it and carry on as normal, I'm sure Chilli will be fine. Its just a snake keepers badge of honour to have teeth marks on them, wear them with pride and remember thats as bad as it gets, they cant do anything more than that. |

unless you smelt different and she didnt like it?
or (and im pushing my luck) its that shes female and its her prerogative!!? ;)
try her again tomorrow and see how she is, could have just been in a bad mood or still sleepy? |
