Posted - 23/04/2012 : 21:06:32 Corno has never struck at her food or constricted, but I've never really 'tried' to get her to (never jiggled the mouse in front of her or anything). The normal pattern is pop her in the feeding tub, don't bother with a lid just keep an eye on her, grab the mouse, pop it in behind her and wait for her to find it, head butt it a couple of times and decide to eat it.
It was Ember's second feed tonight and after having a little hold I put her in the tub. She is far more flighty than Corno so I put the lid on whilst I grabbed the pinky. Went to lift the lid and she's going loopy and starts to escape. Go to block her exit and maybe tempt her back into the tub with pinky. OMG quick as a flash she has struck, grabbed the pinky from my fingers and is frantically constricting!! I actually yelped in surprise then started saying 'OMG I don't believe it' and hubby rushed over to find out what was wrong lol! Shame that on THIS occasion he didn't have his camera, arrgh!! |

Posted - 04/05/2012 : 16:13:47 My silver is ridiculous with striking, he goes for it from about a foot away!
he did it once and actually flung himself out of the vivarium, only managing to grab on with the end of his tail! I just had to lift him carefully back in, he didn't seem to mind. absolutely hilarious! |

Posted - 04/05/2012 : 15:22:16 Maybe she's a fussy chops! My hamster is terrible. I have to buy specific food from a certain pet shop else he refuses to eat! |

Posted - 04/05/2012 : 12:37:29 Not only did she refuse to play ball the next feed, but she didn't eat at all yesterday!! I'm not worried though as she's going to shed soon. Also she struck at the pink from my usual pet shop, but has seemed less impressed with the (tiny!!) pinks I got from PaH the same time I bought her, so will wait for her to shed and then offer her a pink from my usual shop and fingers crossed she's more willing lol!! |

Posted - 04/05/2012 : 12:27:47 Jake always strikes and coils his dinner unless it's me who feeds him! I haven't the guts to dangle it like the o/h does! He's done it ever since he was a baby and am surprised that a few people haven't seen their snakes do it! |

Posted - 23/04/2012 : 21:16:59 Good to see and can make you jump at the sheer speed. My boy liquorice is flighty so i put a kitchen roll tube in his feeding tub to give him a bit of security he has struck and coiled inside it. |
