It seems to take Voldemort such a long time to eat, and I was just wondering if this is a common thing? Last night it took 45 minutes! He's 3ft, 300g and was on medium mice until 2 weeks ago when the reptile shop changed supplier, so now their large mice are the same size as mediums so I got him large instead (the new mediums were so small and left no bump). Falco eats 2 fuzzies in a matter of minutes, but Voldemort has always been quite slow. It looks like laziness, he holds the head for ages before making an effort to eat it. Looks like he's hoping the mouse will do all the work for him lol. He's fed every 7 days and never missed a feed.

Voldemort takes 100 hours and Falco takes 2 seconds. :-P

Ara is a speedy muncher, his two pinkies are gone before you blink sometimes. Ginn on the other hand takes her time over her meals, has them walk backwards about the vivarium and spends a little time considering opening her mouth wider for the back legs - I'd say she's a 20minute eater. Pretty sure it varies per snake as people have said, so all is good.

Ernest took 10 mins just to find his mouse's head the other day, looked most confused - he had it tight in his coils, kept looking up at me as if i,d pinched it. He can take about 20 mins to munch lunch !

I've gotten into the habit of just chopping to bloody things off, else a 10 minute feed gets dragged out as they get try fit the forelegs in their gobs haha!

Its just a quick pull backwards, bit of a crunch, easy peasy lol. They can breathe with their gobs stuffed with mouse so nothing to worry about.

Chops can take up to 10-15 minutes for both the larger pinkie and the smaller one. He often dislocates the legs to accommodate them in his mouth.

Thanks, that'll save me worrying about it I don't fancy dislocating the legs for him though

As long as the mouse is no more thasn 1.5 times the size of the snakes body at its thickest point then there should be no problems, Spot takes his time too, upto about 20 minutes from strike to bye bye mouse, he gets stuck at the fore legs too a lot so I've taken to dislocating them before offering and that helps.

I forgot to say he's 20 months old.
