I have had my Carolina Corn Snake, Allan, for 4 days now and he has hidden since being introduced to his viv. He is 15" long and is 8 months old. His tank is 18 x 12 and the temp is correct at both ends of the tank, 29 and 22F (i was told this is correct) with one hide in each zone, and loads of false foliage to cover behind. He has a biggish water bowl so he can bathe if he needs to shed. He has hidden in his Exo Terra Snake Rock which is in the cool end since I got him. He pokes his head out but looks terrified. Will he ever make friends with me?

One more thing, when people refer to their animal they always put things such as 1.0.0 or 0.2.0 next to the animal. Excuse my ignorance but what does this mean? I am guessing it refers to sexes or something similar.

Great advice, always a bit anxious when I get new animals. I suppose the sock gets him used to my scent for a few days so he recognises me. Will do that. Beautiful Staffy by the way.

Leave him alone for a week, but wear a clean sock in pocket, or tuck under waist band for the day, then put in beside him so he gets used to your scent, nearly all new corns are shy, he will settle!
