An end of an era has come around today for me and my family , we had to put our 16 year old ****er spaniel chloe to sleep after suffering heart failiur . I feel totally deverstated as she was the dog i begged a cried for when i was 10 . I left a note at the top of the stair every night for a month with three tick boxes sayin 'yes' 'no' and maybe , and wake up hopin they had ticked yes , took awhile but finally we went to pick up chloe , who throught the nxt few years became my closest buddy and partner in crime . Seeing her suffer and taking her to the vets with my parents has probably been the toughest thing i have had to do and at the moment i can burst into tears at any moment :(

Sorry its abit of a morbid post , just feel abit lost . If u cudnt find her in the house , u cud guarentee u would find her in the garden alseep in a patch of sun . And i think its quite fitting considering all the recent rain , that today the sun is shining brightly

:(

Aww hon, so sorry to hear about this and it IS a really traumatic thing to have to go through. My Newfie is like a child to me and I live in fear of waking up one morning to find that he's gone. Much love and big hugs to you xx

Aww what a lovely photo. It took ages before we stopped 'seeing' Max everywhere after he'd gone - I kept going to open the back door to let him in/out and then realised there was nothing there :( It does get so much easier with time though xx

sorry for your loss. We lost our cat a couple of years ago, so I understand how sad you feel we rescued her from a crazy cat lady (her millions of cats needed rehomed and werent in the best conditions) when she was 6. We had her for 10 years before she suffered from renal failure
It came on super fast, over a matter of days. I took her to the vets as she wasnt eating and had gunky eyes etc... and they put her down there and then. I was devastated

xxxxxx

Oh hun, I can understand how devastated you are. Our pets become members of our family and you should grieve as such.

Maybe not right now, but sometime in the next few days, spend a little while collecting photos and writing down memories of her. Put them all in a special little memory box. Then in years to come you will be able to bring out that little box and take pleasure in the wonderful life you have given her.

R.I.P Chloe. Play safely over the bridge

I remember when my first dog was put down, but the people above are right. Time does soothe and eventually your memories will be happy ones.

RIP Chloe

so sorry, it is heart breaking when you lose your first dog, as hissyfit says it does get easer with time. we had to have my first dog put to sleep last year, she was 14, i didn't stop crying that night and was a wreck the next day but it slowly got easier. my thoughts are with you
Hissyfit Posted - 30/04/2012 : 18:57:41
So sorry to hear about Chloe, sounds like she had a great life with you. It's always so hard losing a dog, especially when it's your first one. It does get easier, and you'll eventually be able to think of her and smile instead of the heartache you feel at the moment
Sleep well Chloe x
