is any one else watching this and thinking what i am. a complet dissapointment. i was expecting a living snake and their talking about one existed millions of years ago |

Yeah I watched it today I let albi watch it aswell but he didn't seem to bothered. As for large snake existing today a lot of the amazon rainforest has never been travelled so I recon there could be one or two big suprises.
Loved the idea of the snake eating the crocs though ( I do like crocs) |

I just watched it. It was quite interesting as to how they worked out the size and family of the snake from just one vertebra. The snake dissection was also good. It really showed how they worked out the size using a similar animal alive today (although in that case, it wasn't alive...). |

I did say on the trailers for it, it was around after the dinosaurs?! I think we would know about it if a snake that massive existed today! |

I am going to be watching this tonight, I kinda presumed it was going to be a program of an extinct snake, possibly a sea snake specially with it’s size, so many massive animals so many millions/billions of years ago :D I love learning about past animals though and I love CGI because that’s kinda what I do so :P Probably why I loved planet dinosaur so much! |

It turns out the picture is an edited reticulated python.
"The normal size of a bull dozer bucket will be around 3-5 feet, and the snake in the picture is about 5 times the size of the bucket, which makes it around 15 to 25 feet at the maximum. Moreover, the snake cannot be Boa because they do not belong to that part of the world. The markings on the backside of the snake indicate that it is a reticulated python."

Very sorry to break it to you, but this is almost definately a hoax. I'd love to believe that they are real, but creatures that size would have been found before and there would be much more publication on the matter if they were indeed real.
I am doing more research into it however, in the hope that I am wrong.
You can do some fantastic stuff on photoshop these days though, it's a shame really. |

Big enough to eat a crocodile?! I'm glad it was a fossil!!! haha
It was an excellent program though, I especially liked the part where they were saying if the temperature of the world keeps rising, then areas that sustain anacondas could potentially support titanaboa sized snakes again.
I'm all for global warming after hearing that! hahaha
The model that that guy made for them was amazing too, seriously considering having one made for the garden!
and they are continuing to dig up the mounds where they found the fossil, so maybe they will find more fossils, of even bigger snakes!
did anyone see the part where the anaconda bit that guys leg? left two teeth buried in his leg and it was pouring out blood.. mental! |

i let my littlun stay up late to watch it, cos we thought it was going to be about the massive snake that got accidentally dug up in china a few weeks back-
we were really disappointed aswell- it was all fossils and CGI and absolutely zilch about this ..
