I got a call last night from a good friend who works for the local council as an Environmental Health officer. He was after some bits to keep a corn found in a cemetery!

I managed to scratch together a faun, mat, stat, thermometer, and some hides and foliage for the rescued snake. And my mate bought it over so I could check it over and weigh it as well.

So, this is Bones, the normal corn. I suspect it is male, and very skinny. I've roughly guessed his age at around 5-6 months old. He is around 15" long, but weighs in at 10grams!

My friend is looking after him, and I've told him not to feed him until monday, just give him a few days to settle down and get his body up to a normal heat. Lovely to handle; very calm and alert for an abandoned/escaped snake!

I'll keep you all updated to how he gets on.

OMG, I thought this little beauty had found a great home, and was full of expectations! How sad! I am so sorry...

Bless him, poor thing Obviously he didn't look in great shape in that original pic so to be honest I'm quite surprised he's lasted until now, what a trooper to go all that time seemingly without food, and then last another 3 months on top of that, he was a little fighter!

As far as I can tell, he didn't eat again after the first feed, and my friends girlfriend took him to the vets, who put him to sleep.

I should be finding out more in the week...

Oh that's terrible news. But least you did all you could to help.

aw no, maybe was just too late to find him, poor Bones, at least he would have passed being warm inside instead of suffering in this freezing cold

Thanks everyone!

My mate is looking after Bones; I just gave him all the bits to home him!

He was found in Wickford cemetary by council workers, and the environmental health lot have to get involved to determine species, etc, and write a report, so my mate took him to look after it, and came to me for advice and equipment. I'll probably pop round to see the snake tuesday, get pics, and see how he is getting on...

Nice looking snake, wonder did he escape or did some one just abandon the little fellow. Are there many houses around the cemetery?
