They turned out quite well really and apparently are even better than shop bought ones...

Posted - 09/11/2012 : 16:07:59 I guess in that regard, my home made jaffas are more orangey than the real thing...orange jelly and orange marmalade in the jelly bit. |

Posted - 09/11/2012 : 15:20:34 So now they should be called "APRICOT BISCUITS" lol |

Posted - 09/11/2012 : 15:04:36 On a different, yet same, note, the fruit used in Jaffa cake jam is 70% apricot, 30% Orange. Or it'll be too bitter. |

Posted - 09/11/2012 : 12:08:09 Hahaha. They're actually quite easy to make. If anybody wants to try making them, I got the recipe from here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/homemadejaffacakes_91480
I only have one suggestion for changing it slightly. Melt less chocolate for them. That is a huuuuuuuge amount haha. Mine had very thick chocolate on them and I still had about half of it left... |

Haha, okay okay so jaffas are orange. What about the type of chocolate on them? I used 70% cocoa lindtt chocolate which worked fabulously. Would milk chocolate be as good? better? What about chocolate with honeycomb in it...or is that still messing with the classics?
BAN BAN BAN BAN

Well, I know where you stand then a33272 Don't you dare change the classics!!!! |

Posted - 08/11/2012 : 21:49:56 To be fair, it was my Dad (who is quite a jaffa cake addict) that suggested trying new flavours in the first place... This was after he had polished off the remaining two of the homemade jaffa cakes with much delight. Maybe he got carried away by the possibilities? haha.

Posted - 08/11/2012 : 21:37:14 Ooh yeah, pineapple could be good. Thanks Scaly
Haha, loyal to the classic orange jaffas then. I suppose they couldn't be called jaffa cakes if they weren't orange because jaffa is a type of orange which is how they got their name.
I could make alternatives but give them their own names?
*ahem* oh wait. Apparently mcvities have decided lemon jaffa cakes are still jaffa cakes?
