Posted - 15/11/2012 : 21:10:49 Apollo did it! I was always so envious of everyone's constricting pictures because none of mine had ever bothered. Andromeda gives a good strike, lightning fast and very accurate, but never a constrict.
I delayed Apollo's feed by 4 days and fed him a slightly larger hopper than usual and he actually struck at it (he's NEVER done that either!) and slowly coiled around it, then sat there for a good five minutes to make sure it was dead. Was so excited I ran to get my camera

Posted - 16/11/2012 : 11:53:40 I usually slightly wiggle the prey after they grab a hold of it (not too much as I wouldn't want to damage any teeth) and that seems to trigger the constricting instinct in almost all of my snakes :) |
