So last time jinx was due a shed i gave him a moss hide as his previous sheds hadn't been very good. which worked a treatand we have our first compleate shed. he's in blue again at the mo so i've popped in a moss hide again. Do we think it would be best to use a moss hide every time he sheds from now on or try him with out next time and see how it goes?

If it helps him and makes you feel happier then go for it. There's no harm in using a moist hide as long as it's not too wet. You are just aiming to raise the humidity a bit. Make sure you take it out after he's shed so the humidity isn't high all the time or you increase the risk of respiratory infections.

There's no harm in using a moss hide every time. Others may shed more light as I've never had to use a moss hide.
