Posted - 19/08/2013 : 16:22:29 Hi all, first of all, as usual, sorry if there's a similar topic on here somewhere, I did search and came up with nothing, but I may have missed it.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone played/had heard of Reptile Breeder 2? It's an online, in-browser simulation game based on breeding, rearing and selling herps of varying species (including corns) and has a very comprehensive, true-to-life genetics/morphs engine - the main focus of the game is breeding rare multi-trait morphs. They don't have every gene out there yet, but the game is still in progress and more are being added all the time, as are new species to add to the 17 they have already. It's completely free to play, though if you want you can buy special in-game items with 'real' money.
Basically, I just found that game today and have been really impressed with how realistic it is. Herps go through several life-stages (neonate, juvenile, adolescent, etc.), inbreeding has a slowly worsening affect on fertility, hatchling size and such as it accumulates, females have to be of a suitable size as well as age to breed, and so on. Best of all, it's not cutesy or over-simplified like a lot of sim games.
So, is there anyone on here who plays/has played it and if so, what are your opinions on it? So far I really like it. Also, if anyone decides to join, could you please enter '1739' into the referrer bit? Thanks! |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 19:58:00 Just a thought(and some shameful advertising XD) Does anyone want a female Normal 100% Het Blizzard Leopard gecko that's 11 months old? I've had no takers on her and I'm keeping her sister to breed to my male Blizzard so she's up for sale
One more month(turn) and she's ready to breed lol. |

@Lee: Depends on the species. For Corn snakes males can breed at 18 months and females at 24 months, which isn't as long as it sounds seeing as they age up a month every time you hit 'Next Turn', and you get quite a lot of turns :) I 'm not sure about other breeds but if you go to Breeding page under the Reptiles menu then select the breed you want it tells you how old they have to be :) |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 16:49:16 I got Firefox even though it seemed to work with Explorer. How long before they are old enough to breed? |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 11:44:18 I leveled up in Genetics lol. I have loads of Leopard Gecko eggs as, like Leopard Gecko's do, my Blizzard female keeps pumping out her eggs from the mating with the Normal Stud male so I kept one to breed with my male Blizzard so I now have a Norma het Blizzard Leo to breed with my Blizzard leo lol.
I have my Ornate Horned Frogs but they aren't old enough to breed yet. I managed to sell all 5 of my Normal Royal hatchlings from my pair. My Corns aren't ready to breed yet either but I sold my Carolina as I'm working on a project with the others and like you, space is needed.
I also sold one of my female Royals as she kept refusing the male whereas the other accepted him. So I now have;
2x Normal Royals - 1.1.0 4x Leopard Gecko's - 1.1.2 2x Ornate Horned Frogs - 0.0.2 2x Red Akie Monitors - 1.1.0 2x Corn Snakes - 1.1.0
All sorted and when I can start my corn snake project I'll be happy. |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 08:49:57 @AcidicAngel: Wow lol yeah does sound a little addicty :P I'm kinda' fretting about my space running out (I know you start off with loads) so I'm trying not to start out with too much, though I'll probably end up with some froglings <3
@Moppet: I think once you get going it goes up pretty quickly, but I do see your point :) |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 01:29:07 The whole Genetics level thing is annoying me |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 00:22:42 I have;
3x Normal Royals - 1 male, 2 females. 2x Blizzard Leopard Gecko's. 2x Red Akie Monitors. 3x Corn Snakes - 2 Males(Carolina & Amel) and 1 Anery. & 2x Ornate Horned Frogs...
Already... I started playing at 2pm XD
I already have Royal Eggs nearly ready to hatch and some Leopard Gecko Eggs(I studded a Normal male with my Blizzard female) that will hatch in two turns and she's carrying a second clutch(without mating again) lol.
Would you call me slightly addicted already? |

I'm quite enjoying it lol. You need certain genetics levels to breed higher morphs though. I'm hoping my Genetics level goes up when these royals hatch/are laid so that I can breed my Blizzard Leopard Gecko's too lol.
yeah the breeding level thing takes a bit of getting used to, I've got a trio of corn snakes I'm raising up on there, looking forward to my level going up so I can get more morph combos :) |
