Posted - 21/08/2013 : 12:20:32 Just wondered - how often do you get a " coil shove " from your snakes?
Just got such a massive one from Little T, I banged my hand on the glass! He's going blue, and this is the only time he's grumpy and antisocial. He buries under the newspaper under the aspen, makes a cave there and does NOT want to be disturbed, thank you VERY much. I tried to check on him today as I was changing his water, and knew he was awake, because I saw the mound of bedding move. When I touched the newspaper, he gave me such a shove with his coil, it threw my hand against the glass!
Quite clearly, he wants to be left alone, and doesn't want me even to look! He never bites when grumpy, coil shove seems to be his thing, so I wondered - do your snakes coil shove you? |

Posted - 22/08/2013 : 18:46:01 I figure it's more a "is it a mouse that needs to be squashed?" response then a "get away from me" one...
If I put my finger in a coil and give it a wiggle I really 'feel the pressure'
The only time I get 'grumpy' from either of my boys is when someone is eating slowly and there is a mouse left that can be seen but not gotten too (because it's for someone else).. That's when Monster gets all twitchy..

It's like a weird form of snake art.. lol..
Ah well Sakana just hisses around her mouse when I have to do stuff while she eats. It's all show from her though. She can be moody, but then again - Can't all girls at her age? Lol.
Even her "coil shoves" are for show lol, like I said - 5 mins later she comes up to the glass and wants out XD |

Posted - 22/08/2013 : 10:20:38 Worst I've had was a tail rattle from Diego when I woke him up accidentally. Luna tried to strike at the dog once, but she had just laid and was very cranky. No aggression to me at all. |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 16:42:06 I get shoved by my big fella if he doesn't want to come out so I leave him alone. He's never tried to bite or anything, just his way of saying I don't want to be bothered, they are pretty big shoves sometimes! |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 14:50:07 Only ever been coil shoved once and that was when Kali was getting ready to lay, she was huuuuuge (22eggs and she's only 3ft9!) and quite uncomfortable by that point so I don't blame her. She's the moodiest of my lot and sometimes gives me a bit of a tail rattle when she's being fed as if guarding her mouse! |

Posted - 21/08/2013 : 12:38:05 I do from Sakana every now and then for absolutely no reason apart from she doesn't want touching(she doesn't do it when she's in blue), but then after 5 minutes she comes out the viv to me! It's like "No! You didn't want touching so I left you! Go away!" XD |
