Hey there snake lovers.

Just popping in to say hi and introduce myself.

I'm Alex, my wife (Jules) and I are about to get our first snake, and we chose a corn snake to start with. We have a set up and the only thing we seemed to have omitted is a thermostat, but aiming to fix that as soon as possible.

This is fulfilling a dream of mine that I've held for nearly 18 years. When I was but a nipper, a family friend showed me it's pet milk snake. Since that point I've been enthralled by snakes, lizards and most things cold blooded. My dreams of a serpentine pet were for naught due to my Mum who couldn't deal with the idea of dead mice in the freezer. My wife, thankfully, is less perturbed by frigid fluffies in the freezer and so now I may fulfil my youthful goals.

Our new lovely will be joining a small collection of tropical fish (including a betta splendens).

Aside from my fascination with snakes, I'm also an avid coffee lover and am the co-owner of a pop-up coffee shop in Northampton. I also (attempt to) play bass guitar and have a deep fascination of nearly every facet of technology.

So that's me...

Expect me to ask inane questions and be neurotic over every thing possible about raising our snake.

Can't believe you've mentioned coffee. I've ran out and not had one this morning, not a happy bunny at all!

Many thanks Kehhlyr. I suspected something of that description but wasn't sure.

Thanks everyone for the wonderfully lovely welcome. Jules has joined as Squeefluff. We'll try to keep duplicate posts to a minimum and love the vibe this community seems to have.

Hello Alex & Jules :)

Looking forward to seeing your new addition.

I've got 2 fighter females left as unforutnately our male betta spendens died. One is a right bully, so just trying to decide if I should get her another male for her to harass!

Hi Awlred welcome to the most addictive snake forum yet!

Kehhlyr does my signature now look right for 4 boys, 5 hens, 2 female cats and one unsexed corn?
Kehhlyr Posted - 23/07/2011 : 17:28:16
Hi and welcome.
Male.Female.Unsexed. So 1.2.3 would be 1 male, 2 females, 3 unsexed (or unknown sex).

Time for a newbie question, with regards to signatures what do the 0.1.3 [Animal Name] represent?
