Posted - 31/08/2010 : 16:22:50 Earlier this year I went on a trip to London Zoo to try out my new macro lens for my DSLR camera. I had a great time in the reptile house but got so excited that I forgot to note down the species that I was shooting!
I'm pretty sure I know what they are but what do you guys think these 2 snakes are?

I'm guessing some form of rattlesnake and a black mamba...

Posted - 22/10/2010 : 22:48:39 cheers :) I have a slight advantage of a £500 camera with a £300 macro lens! Looking at my bank balance these days I'm kinda wishing I didn't invest but then theres so many photos I'm happy to have taken! |

Posted - 21/10/2010 : 21:22:04 I'm pretty sure it is. Watched a documentary on them the other week and I'm so glad that there was glass between me and the snake for that pic! They're pretty hardcore little things! Can outrun a horse, strike from over 6ft away and can kill you in minutes. A South African mate of mine used to have a friend that kept one and quite happily handled it. Balls of steel!! |

Yeah those were the two bits I enjoyed most. It was cool going through the monkey enclosure with the squirrel monkeys too. Oh and all the deadly spiders in the BUGS exhibition too
I had a great day but I think I agree with you on the other animals. Still, I'd certainly pay to go back through the bits I enjoyed again! |

Posted - 31/08/2010 : 21:18:51 Thanks! It was a great day out, could easily have spent all day in the reptile house! I'm particularly happy with these photos:

Got some amazing photos in the butterfly room too. |

Posted - 31/08/2010 : 17:47:51 Not sure on the first one, although id be tempted to say it was some sort of pit viper, so possibly a rattler. But the 2nd is deffinitely a black mamba. |

Posted - 31/08/2010 : 16:50:53 I'd definitely say that last one was a Mamba. Not too sure on the first one, but it looks a lot like a Timber Rattler. Great pictures! |
