I'm trying to find out but if anyone knows what morph he is I would be very grateful. He's actually a little less red than this. I think my white balance was a bit off. Many thanks

whatever he is he is gorgeous, if u ever have to sell i am always here
mikerichards Posted - 27/06/2010 : 00:07:05
Well he is motley, that much cannot be disputed. Whether he is hypo or not waits to be seen. Not all mitleyd or hypos bleed colour into the belly, generally they don't at all.
Sta~ple Posted - 26/06/2010 : 19:46:34
Then my guess is hypo although I really am rubbish at morphs! Looking on here, there's one motely hypo on there although the picture isn't from a great view but it's cpolourring is like dead on with the hypo stripes http://iansvivarium.com/morphguide/hypomelanistic/

all amels have red eyes
gregDT Posted - 26/06/2010 : 17:12:18
It also has black eyes and I thought all Amels had red eyes?
Sta~ple Posted - 26/06/2010 : 16:33:36
Don't most orange snakes have an orange tail belly thing x.x

Do amels have any black? I don't think they do. It looks so much like an amel but I can't help but think it's not as there is some black around the mouth.
gregDT Posted - 26/06/2010 : 11:11:06
I'll go with motley then. Seems the safest bet. Although I told my next door neighbours it is a Sri Lankan Krait, and that they should look it up on Wikipedia

Thanks again to every one for the advice.

Thats a shame, i had a hypo het bloodred anery and he had red bleeding undere his tail excactly the same as this.
eeji Posted - 25/06/2010 : 19:12:53
my amel motley is orange under his tail like that too, and definetly not het diffused :(

theres only one way to find out for sure! ;)
mikerichards Posted - 24/06/2010 : 22:32:37
Looking at that belly, the red diffusing into the belly towards the tail is a marker for Bloodred. My het bloodred i had had belly exactly the same as that.

He's gorgeous what ever he is! If he ever needs a new home I'll me waiting
gregDT Posted - 24/06/2010 : 21:21:01
Ok as promised here are a few (rubbish) photos of his underside. I've almost no experience of handling snakes so it's a nightmare trying to hold him and shoot photo's of him at the same time. I hope I get better at both soon.

From his head down to between 1/2 and 2/3 of his body length he is snow white underneath-

and

Towards the tail some colour seems to bleed in from his sides and he shows a pale orange red on his underside

and

Hope this helps. As long as he is content and healthy it don't mind what he is, but it would be nice to say "this is Glycol, he is a xxxxxx Corn Snake."

I am really appreciative of peoples help in identifying him... and Ian's Vivarium! what a great site

Def. Normal motley. Nice twist with one cube on the back :)
Sta~ple Posted - 24/06/2010 : 19:26:09
I unno I'm gonna say hypo as the markings on his jaws look like they have hardly any black.
eeji Posted - 24/06/2010 : 18:41:16
i'm still going for normal motley until hypo has been proven either way ;)
gregDT Posted - 24/06/2010 : 15:10:39
I'll get one tonight.
Sta~ple Posted - 24/06/2010 : 12:02:47
Maybe a belly shot would help?
Blackecho Posted - 24/06/2010 : 09:19:35
We can't be sure its Hypo, it may well not be, what Ian was getting at is that a Motley snake has reduced black too.
gregDT Posted - 23/06/2010 : 22:33:02
Looking at your Guide to Cornsnake Morphs he looks remarkably like the 'Strawberry Motley Adult'
(link: http://iansvivarium.com/morphguide/strawberry/ )

Although the pattern is not exactly the same the colour is almost spot on But if you say he's a hypo motley then I will certainly defer to you greater knowledge.

it also looks hypo because motley has its own hypo effect just to confuse things :S
