Posted - 05/06/2012 : 19:29:30 hi this might be a daft question and Im worrying over nothing, but I wonder how can you tell your snake has mites? I have a new ghost stripe corn on paper towel substrate. Ive handled him and noticed he has lots of little black dots on him. these sort of look like markings, but I know little black dots are a sign of mites. I havent seen anything on his substrate or on my hands after I handled him. Im guessing this means he doesnt have them, but does anyone else know what these little dots might be? theyre on his back, his belly, everywhere. |

Posted - 05/06/2012 : 19:49:40 they dont appear to be moving no, and he doesnt feel gritty. I didnt notice them but I have left him alone to settle in for a week, so didnt look all that closely. they are mostly in the lines of his stomach and along his sides. just tiny little marks on the side of his scales. |

mites are fairly easy to identify, it will feel like grains of sand to you as he moves over you hands etc. also snakes tend to soak in there water alot to ease the discomfit.
did he have there dots/marks when u got him?
