Posted - 09/09/2013 : 09:04:11 Hi all, I let Rummy out in his viv last week and he'd be in different hides but I never got the chance to have a good look at him until last night. I keep on seeing what I thought was a bit of shed coming off but wasn't too sure, but put some damp tissue in the little tub he came in (and put a hole in it) last night and he's in there now under the tissue.
As he was so active last night, is it possible that he was shedding earlier but I didn't know as couldn't see him and he became so active because he had almost finished shedding?
I was planning on seeing if he'd feed some point this evening and then start handling on Wednesday but am thinking I'm better putting it off until Wednesday if he is shedding?
Will have a little look through the viv this evening though to see if I can see any shed skin. |

Posted - 09/09/2013 : 16:50:08 They don't need damp moss all the time, none of mine has ever really had problems shedding and I don't use damp hides as a rule. I did get a youngster who had his tail skin still on, it took a while but came off with a little soaking, he has shed since no problem. |

You don't have to buy hides, you can easily make one out of various tubs - like a butter or ice cream tub - or even build one out of lego! :-) Or, if you're feeling artistic, you can actually make one out of sour dough, someone on here had done it. |

Posted - 09/09/2013 : 09:38:47 Ah yes, he has shed! Whole head with eyes in a tube and the whole body in my t-shirt. Is it okay to feed him tonight or wait? It was two days ago he was staying in the same hide so I think that is when he shed. Feel bad I hadn't had the damp area in then, had been so busy and just assumed he wasn't shedding for a little while longer. Going to invest in a nice hide with moss once the loan comes in and then that can stay in the viv all the time. |
