Hey guys!

Discordia is about 21 months and was shedding regularly every 2 months since I bought her a year ago. For the past two months she's shed every month, and I am starting to be concerned.

I checked her body and water bowl for mites and saw nothing abnormal. I have also checked her for any scars or weird scales; nothing.

Any suggestions on what may be happening?

Thank you for your help!

Yep, same with Corno, she's 2 now and has been shedding monthly over the summer :)

Glad to hear there is nothing officially wrong. Just growth spurts ^^

Thanks guys ^^ I bought Discordia roughly one year ago so I didn't have time to notice the shedding patterns over a year's period! I can stop worrying now

yeah don't worry, they go through phases and different speeds of growth throughout the year. Checked my records too, some of mine are regular others erratic just down to the individual. I have 2 brothers/sisters exactly the same age and offered food exactly the same but massive difference in size!

Just seen your reply - don't worry, I worry all the time - last winter, I was panicking, why Twid hasn't shed for more than 3 months, although he'd grown - I though there was something wrong with him :-) He managed to grow 18 cm without shedding - I mean, how stretchy can a snakey skin be?

In fact, I've just gone through my records - they show that Baz did this every year so far - first summer with me, she shed every 4 weeks, whilst in winter she had 90 days gap! Same for Little T, sheds more often in summer.

Thanks Razee! That's comforting! I have seen a major change, she's in a growth spurt no doubt; somehow I managed to worry either way ;)

It's been summer - I know that Bazilishka, who's coming up to 3 years old, shed roughly every 40 days. It's warmer, they seem to grow more, faster, and are more active = shedding more often. I bet the gap between sheds will be bigger again in couple of months, and you might even see a really huge gap over Christmas/ January period.

If you can't find any mites/ wounds, or anything else wrong, it's probably just a growth spurt - they shed as they need to, don't worry :-)
