Posted - 22/01/2014 : 18:12:35 Although this is only my second experience with a regurge, I'm not overly worried yet but I would like to share the experience in case someone has any insights as to *why* it happened.
One of the babies (Rosie, biggest of the lot, 36g last week) regurged her chick thigh some time today. She was fed that thigh 6 days ago. Now the really weird thing is it was definitely the chick, there was no sign of the pinky she had at the same time. She's had 1 thigh and 1 pinky every 6 days since november. She is always fed the chick first. hot spot is a steady 30 degrees, all the babies have the same setup and are heated by the same cable, and have been since they hatched. This is the first time any of them has had a problem. There are no other changes to her behaviour although I haven't handled her other than cleaning out the regurge. She seems bright and there was plenty of tongue flicking. There was a fresh poop as well as the remnants of the chick, it looked normal. She shed in December so I don't think she's due another. There was a lot of water in the regurge and I did consider the vitamin drops, but all the babies get the same water (I mix it in a bottle then divide it between them). It's probably just one of those things, obviously I'm not feeding her for 10 days and I'll see how she goes but it's a mystery to me why it happened in the first place. As I said, her setup is identical to the other babies, and nobody else has had a problem O.o |
