Posted - 10/12/2012 : 12:05:49 After a very long day yesterday, driving approx 375 miles round trip, I've got my normal corn snake

Sorry, they're not the best pics ever, they were taken very late at night in a fairly dark room.
She doesn't fit in the hides I had for her so she's currently sulking behind an empty cereal box
Apparently none of the local reptile shops have hides big enough for an adult corn snake (even a little one like her) so I have ordered her some from seapets (and some extra plants and decor while I was at it...)
So, do you have any name suggestions? I'm trying to stick with the space/mythology theme I've got going on with the rest of my snakes. I've heard a few names I quite like; Kali, Io and Isis but I'm not 100% sold on any of them yet. What do you guys think she should be called?

Thank you, I like the name but she was well known for being a fighter and this snake seems so soft and quiet. |

Posted - 11/12/2012 : 00:15:55 Antheia - ancient greek goddess of flowers, gardens, love, etc :) Would fit her personality if she's so awesome :D
Ariadne - meaning pure. Might fit her as she's a normal, but a beautiful one :D Was the daughter of king Minos in greek mythology
Astraia - meaning Starry. Goddess of justice. Fits both the space and mythological theme :)
Athene or Athena - just love the name and mythology related :)
Kalypso (or Kaly for short) - "she who conceals" - she might be just a normal, she has nice hets apparenlty! |

Posted - 10/12/2012 : 19:32:58 Thank you, I thought so too but there's a lot of people (including her seller!) that thought I was mad.
Usually it went something like this Me: "I'm going to pick up a snake this weekend, I'm driving 4 hours each way for her." Them: "Wow, what kind of snake?" Me: "She's an adult female normal cornsnake." Them (with a shocked expression): "You're driving all that way for a NORMAL CORNSNAKE?????!" Me (mumbling a little): "A very pretty female adult corn snake with hets that I can use to prove my males..."

Posted - 10/12/2012 : 18:32:08 I like the name Freyja but I know someone with that name so it doesn't seem quite right. I think she needs a gentle sounding name because she is such a sweetheart

It's all those lovely photos of the gorgeous Plissken (and some of the other lovely normals that belong to members on here) that prompted me to get a normal. I love the way they look
Haha, Bob would have to be short for Bobette or something because she's definitely a female. |

I love the name Nova, but it reminds me too much of the car...
I didn't even know there was a car named nova -total car noob-.
How about... Freyja, or Groa (both from norse mythology and the last one sounds fierce!) orrr... Lunara, Laika (the first animal in space to survive). Will post again if I think of more :D

Posted - 10/12/2012 : 15:49:22 Haha, yes the plan is to breed her with Apollo next year if he's big enough to get the job done so perhaps Daphne wouldn't be so fitting, I'm hoping she'll like him. I was also thinking Artemis but that's Apollo's twin sister in mythology so that idea went out of the window quite fast...
I like Gaia too, that seems to suit her. It'll go on the list of options I think, thanks |

Posted - 10/12/2012 : 15:36:30 Oh true, you've got an Andromeda already! Sorry about that!
I've been thinking of Daphne, but Apollo-Daphne was never a productive combo so it might be a bad starting point. But if the idea is to breed such a tame and zen beauty, maybe Gaia would suit her?
Anyhow, update us on the name you choose and keep posting pictures ^^ |

Posted - 10/12/2012 : 14:58:48 I've already got an Andromeda I like Io too, it's growing on me and I think it might suit her. I'll leave it until she's settled in properly, then I'll be able to handle her and give her a name that fits her best out of all the options I've got.
Thank you, I think she's gorgeous too Yeah, she was definitely worth the trip She's such a lovely, friendly, chilled out snake too, even after the car journey yesterday (which I thought might freak her out but doesn't seem to have) I just caught her watching me through the glass in her viv |
