has anyone got any advice on signs that your corn snake will have a bad shed? just so i know that charlie wont have one again :) |

If you needed to make a damp hide you could just use some sort of small plastic tub. Clean it out and cut a hole init.
Something along the lines of an empty butter/marg tub. |

I only have a small water dish in each of mine. About 3" square they are. The hides I use are the top of a cardboard egg box cut in half so it creates like a cave. When they get bigger and move into a wooden viv I will buy them some nice hides but for now these work well and if they get dirty its easy and cheap to replace. |

indeed i have a faunaruim :D what hide do you need because the woman gave me a horrible bark hide and a horrible small circular waterbowl he can barely put a single coil in. |

I use a small plastic pot from a plastic container set, you can but them individually. I took the lid off put some damp spagnum moss in it and placed it on its side in the tank. I often find Frank and Keith laying in them. I just make sure its damp near shedding and let it dry out a bit more the rest of the time. My adults get an ice cream container with a whole cut in the side. |

Are you using a faunarium?
If so adding a water bowl to the warm end won't be much use, but you can add a damp hide. To do this you need some Spagnum Moss or something similar, dampen it and either add it to an already existing hide, or add a new hide with it in. |

I don't think there are any signs as to wether your snake is going to have a bad shed, but there are a couple of things you can do to help prevent them.
Most snakes shed with no problems, but to help aid them you could put a damp hide in his tank, or maybe an extra waterbowl, placed in the warm end of the tank it will help to raise the humidity a little. |

Sid has had a couple of bad sheds in the past. I can not say that I noticed anything that would of alerted me to expect a bad shed. I think its mostly down to the humidity the snake lives in. |
