anyone on here use pebbles for substrate? after a more natural looking substrate and you only have to by 1 load and keep cleaning them....

cant see a problem with them??

My friend tried out those pebbles and the heat gets trapped under them so the warm end of his viv wasnt warm at all... and yea they are a pain to clean also. They do look pretty though but im not sure they're the most practical :)

It is so annoying to clean them! My snake's insist on pooping on the rocks instead of their nice poop absorbing substrate. It gets in all the cracks of the rocks, onto other rocks below and near it and everywhere generally, heatmat and viv floor.

If you want reusable substrate, maybe try rubstrate, snakes would be able to borrow then.

mmm i cant see any issues.... aslong as you make them a REALLY thin layer over the heat mat so the snake can snuggle down near the plastic... i fill my hides with shredded newspaper anyhow so might jsut leave a small gap under the hide. anyone have any more ideas?

hmm interesting question! Looking forward to some answers... maybe if no one knows we could do some group testing!

Hi i think it would be ok with a light as heat source , But a heatmat may not heat through the pebbles so just be carefull.

Are you using a heatmat? Not sure how well they would work if you were, but i haven't seen this substrate before and have no experience of it so i can't be certain.
