I'm some way off needing to worry about this but I like to be prepared so:
Can I put the heat mat that I currently have UNDER my faunarium INSIDE a wooden vivarium?
Are they impervious to liquid, etc.? |

Its fine in a wooden viv. I choose to cover my mats with lino, but many people leave it with just a light covering of substrate without problems. As Mike said, you can seal the joint with aquarium sealant to water proof it. |

If you put the mat under the wooden viv the chances that the mat over heats is much greater, there is also the chance of fire.
If you really want you can put a seal of silicone around the contacts, that will seal it. |

It would need to be inside! The wood is too good an insulator to have it outside. They are laminated so yes waterproof but check them over when you clean just to make sure there is no damage. |
