Posted - 25/11/2010 : 23:15:04 I've had Spot since the 21/09, unfortunately in the excitement of going through allsorts with the guy I forgot the exact DoB but I think he said 2 months old, I do know he was under a foot (11 inches) and only weighed 10 grams. But to be honest Spot has balls of steel he's never appeared nervous or aggressive, I think the breeder must have been very hands on with him and apart from a unfortunate regurge incident this week (my fault, long story) he's beenperfectly fine in hisviv though it is heavily covered in fake plants and a completely hidden/buried tunnels to allow him to move around completely unseen. I only see him when he comes right to the front.
This is my viv, note Spot is nowhere to be seen.

Posted - 25/11/2010 : 19:47:27 Spot is 2 foot (if not he is nearly there) and has been in a 2 foot viv since I got him. He's not had any problems (up until a partial-regurge yesterday but I think the cause of that was a new hide that wasn't hot enough), I think provided that you get the right sort of hiding places, and adequate cover and that your snake isn't very shy in his current enclosure, it will be fine. |

Posted - 25/11/2010 : 17:26:55 Depends how big/old their "hatchlings" are. I have some "hatchlings" that are 10 months and 2ft and will be moving into a 2ft 15" viv soon, or at least one of them since that one I know for certain wouldn't be stressed by it. It's normally yearlings that I see housed in that size and they are fine but it does vary but each snake. |

Posted - 25/11/2010 : 13:52:35 as mike has said a big viv can cause problems, to add to what hes said poople do get feeding issues when they have a snake in a viv thats to big eg wont feed or regurg and just by down sizing they over come the issues, if u want to use they viv but are worried its to big partition it off |

Posted - 25/11/2010 : 13:43:14 Sometimes its more objective to see how shops do it so you can avoid their bad habits. Ideally, for a 2x1.5 you would be looking at 3ft, ideally, with plenty of hides, and shelter you can go smaller, but it really depends on the snakes personality, a lot of them dont like large vivs, it makes them feel insecure, therefor aggressive also. |
