Posted - 10/01/2011 : 13:08:10 .....does a hatchling corn usually leave the breeder and go to their new home?
I am trying to work out how old Nimbus is. The petshop were not very helpful and told me when I put the deposit down that he was 6 months old. Then 4 weeks later when I collected him they told me he was 6 months old lol
I know he came to them in late July 2010 and he came straight from the breeder so I am trying to work out his age.
Main reason is my digital scales arrived today and I can weigh him tomorrow so would like to compare his weight against his age.
Hope that all made sense! |

Posted - 11/01/2011 : 19:23:05 He is a stunning snake, He looks quite big for 7 months old but they all grow at such different rates the only way you can tell for sure is if you have the hatch/feeding records which from a petshop you very rarely get sadly. He looks very much like our Lady she is a hypo. I do like the colours of the normals, hypo and so on. |

Posted - 10/01/2011 : 16:47:25 without the hatch date no, but if they say they had him straight from the breeder id say he wouldnt of been with the breeder for long at all |

Posted - 10/01/2011 : 16:42:21 Right so lets say at most the breeder kept him for 4 weeks just as a rough estimate then that means he could have been 1 month old at the end of July when the pet shop got him so I reckon possibly Nimbus is 7 months old at the end of this month.
Which would also mean the pet shop would be correct that he was 6 months old when I collected him.
I guess I will never really know for sure.

Posted - 10/01/2011 : 14:00:16 ok usually they hatch then are left to have there first shed, then they are offered there first feed. so a hatchy could possibly only be a few weeks old when the breeder sells, it depends on the breeder some will want to make sure they take a few feeds first, so your hatchy could of been 2-3 weeks old maybe few weeks more. ultimatly they want to get rid of there hatchies quick so they incur little cost to them |

Sorry, I don't know anything about baby snakes. So how old are they usually when they have had a couple of feeds? Thanks. |
