How wide are the holes? I watched my 6 month old cornsnake squeeze through a airhole I drilled into a feeding tub, it was 5mm in diameter.

Hmm i a lil worrieed that the rub isnt big enough for two hides and a water bowl surely the snakes gonna need some room to move around should i consider a bigger rub ? Thanks for the input guys all my equipment arrived today so i may actually go collect my snake saturday now instead woohoo

Phoenix used to bath in her water bowl when she was smaller. Both my babys have been caught soaking in their water bowls 2.

Sometimes they have a little bath in it, mine dont do that very often though. some do, some dont, they are all really different! viv carpet is basically just a flooring material for vivs, it can be washed and disinfected, i just prefer it personally to messy substrate, its a bit more labour intensive as you cant really spot clean so i just have 2 bits for each viv and when one is soiled i just replace it with the clean one and wash it and go on like that, whereas with substrates you can do some spot cleaning and just do a big cleanout once a month when needed. same as with kitchen roll i suppose, just viv carpet is a different colour!

And yes i suspect you probably will get more once you have the bug! I got my first then 6 weeks later got my second....3rd is coming in november lol

that looks really cool i have a sneaky suspicion within a year ill have more than one lmao i might try and source a smaller bowl then do they use it to bath in or siomply for drinking (sorry if thats a dumb question) what are viv carpets ?

toilet roll tubes and things like that make good hides for weeny snakes. you can easily cut them up to fit and they are easy to replace. Anything that they can hide under/inside and feel snug and secure they will like. i wouldnt fill the water bowl right up, even for my 2 biggies i only fill it half way. As for substrate im pretty sure its fine for them to be on aspen or similar from when they are little and they like to burrow in it as well, the kitchen roll is more for easy cleaning and easy to see poo etc, just make sure you either feed in a seperate rub without substrate or put the food on top of kitchen roll so theres less chance of any substrate being eaten that could cause a blockage. I personally dont use substrate as such at all, i have viv carpet in my vivs which i change and wash/disinfect every week. after they have done their weekly stink bombs for me ( mine are both very predictable as to passing motions! whatever works best for you really! It will be a while but heres a pic of my setups for you to get an idea of the fun to come in the future when baby grows up! :o)

Ahh i wasnt sure about hides rightyo thats not a problem the rub is really not all that big (but the biggest i could find that wouldnt be too big if that makes sense ..and imagine my surprise when i picked it up and the brand was actually "REALLY USEFULL BOX" i assumed that was just a nickname that you guys had come up with lol

Yup theres a tight fitting lid i spent ages with a screwdriver and a lighter making sure there was plenty of ventilation holes in it hah

is the water bowl too big/deep

Eventually i was thinking of cork bark hides and an artifical branch to put in but i guess that will wait till its big enough how long should i wait till switching to bedding instead of kitchen towel the corns last years hatchling

Thanks again guys

you will need some hides in there, at least one at each end, and just make sure that when you have the heatmat setup you have the waterbowl at the oposite end or it will get too humid and can cause respiratory infections. does the rub have a lid on??

Looks good :) You wil have to get 2 hides for the hot/cold end
