I have been bitten twice by mine and both times were..misjudged strikes.. (fingers holding mouse) and yes, the first time i panicked and pulled away, poor snakey still attatched and ended up being flung and skidded across wooden floor, lol..BUT snake was a baby and survived as u can see, 2nd time he was size he is now and i just gave him THE look and he let go, then re-struck and got his target (food)... Hes never ever made a threat of strike without food being offered...Its al lfun tho, even dogs nip :)

Oh goodness me, are you OK. I knew a guy who knew a guy who said his cousin was bitten by a corn snake and he lost his entire arm, the whole thing just gone in an instant.

An nip is to be expected now and again. It is usually due to being nervous when in a new environment and new owner. Once it settles (leave it alone for a week) and gets used to your scent and being handled it will be more relaxed. Sometimes a mis-judged strike when feeding can end up with an unintended tag.
A tag is more of a shock when it happens but please don't recoil and pull your hand away. The teeth and jaws could be badly damaged. Just relax and it will soon spit you out.
There have been no reports of fatalities or the need for hospitalization after a bite from a Corn. Just wash the bite and/ or give it a dab of anti-septic.

Welcome to the forum.

snakes bite, its in their nature and the only defense they have. Generally they calm down after a while though
