what's the norm in terms of time? What I mean is, about how long does the 'blue' stage last, on average? when sharon the waggler sheds, she seems to be blue for hardly any time at all- a couple of days at most, and then whumpf! she's whipped off her scanties and is resplendant in her new garb in what seems like moments.

But poor old debbie-sweety-pie has been very very blue now for days and days and days- with the full on blindness and shy-sad hidey quiet thing going on. It's definitely at least a week and no sign of clearing yet, and I feel so sorry for her, the poor love.
Does the blue period vary dependnig on age, perhaps?

from start to finish can take 7 days through to 21 days

but most commonly around the 14 day period

thx for replies- because so far I've only seen sharon shed- who as I said takes barely a week for the whole process, I had no frame of ref for poor sweetypie.. who could be like this for a while??? o but its so sad!! I might chuck in something damp for her then, if its possibly going to be a while yet...

(another neurosis diverted by the forum, tho- ta peeps

Plissken went into blue on the 27th Jan, and fully shed on the 2nd Feb. He is 3 years old.

All mine vary. Some of them have taken over 2 weeks from start to finish so I wouldnt worry too much

I've found that it's quicker and more often with youngsters. A week or so in blue, 3 or 4 days clear and then shed.

Taggart who is about 8 years old has only shed twice in the past 12 months and the last time he was blue for about 3 weeks before eventually clearing and shedding. He spent all the time wrapped up in a dampened towel. You could hear the sigh of relief when he popped out, all nice and shiny.

A lot has to do with growth rate. Obviously the younger a snake, the more it has to stretch.

I'm not sure if it depends on age, but it can vary between a day or two to a few weeks
