Posted - 09/02/2012 : 01:49:02 atm I've got two identical mats running off the same stat, with separate thermometers, obv, and in identical sized vivs, one above the other. They seem to run in tandem most of the time, they don't vary by more than 1 degree c generally, BUT when the heating comes on it seems to take longer to re-adjust than my separate mat+stat arrangement (in the same room ) and they occasionally hit 30/31 before settling back down- could just be the position in the room, or loads of other variables, dunno. On the whole it works okay, but i do check it a LOT- (cos I'm a nervous ninny)
ie- yes. it can be done and is fine. esp if yr a bit more chilled than me |

Posted - 08/02/2012 : 12:14:12 You can do either, you can have a mat per stat, or you can use an extension lead and normally load up to 300w on a mat stat. Personally i run 10 stats running 20 heat mats, so that tells you what i do! |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 18:19:31 I have pulse stats and used heatmats the same size and they varied too much for my personal liking, I don't know why though, maybe it doesn't vary so much with rubs or I did something wrong :P |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 17:28:14 I'm with kd on this, much safer to use a stat per mat. I've got eight pulse stats and two dimming stats, expensive I know but worth it for the peace of mind. |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 17:01:54 ideally they should be same size, wattage, make and all placed in the same area in each of the viv and each viv should be the same dimensions eg.3x2x2 to be on the safe side. its about creating the exact same basic set ups so in theory they all work in the same way(always best to use a digi-thermometer to double check all mats are at the running same temps) good luck in whatever you do though.
nearly forgot, depending on what wattage all the mats add up to depends on what size stat you need. |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 13:25:34 I have thermotats on every heatmat i use. It is possible to run multiple mats off one thermostat but each mat must be the same size/wattage and preferably the same make. Some people on here do do it but I prefer not to as it's safer to have them all individually statted |
