I have just recently (10/02/12) bought a hatchling corn snake from a local pet shop so haven't had him long, i gave him his first pink yesterday as this was the norm routine at the pet shop but already i think he needs to move up to possibly 2 pinks per week. before the feed i weighed Oscar at 18g and his length at 1.5ft when i fed him the pink i could barely see it inside his body at the widest part, what would you advise me to do and how to go about feeding him,

Age may not bother some people but others it may when i got mine i was told it was 6 months i got home and found this very hard to believe so called back the next day to find out it was actally 12 weeks which is a huge differnece and got told the date it was born. From that everything can be writain down and a schedule kept at all times i.e fed how much at what time when it sheds and when it poops. Feed as mentiond 40-48 hours is fine to hold as long as there is no bump, when handling let the snake do the percentage of the work useing slow movement ;)

All the best

Frank does well after 36/48 hours. Though if he still has a bulge i leave him to it

I always leave mine for 72 hrs minimum to avoid any chance of regurgitation.

i will try him on 2 pinks on his next feed and should i leave him 48hrs after i feed him still or longer?

Feed him one and then when has his movement back give him another. All snakes lentgh, age and weight vary greatly. My twos are yearlings but one weighs half the others weight but both eat the same amount.as long as he's healthy age doesn't really matter but its always nice to know . Try him on two, but maybe leave him 6 days instead of 5 x

Give the 1st one, allow him to get it down into his tum and as soon as he starts moving around a bit, offer the second. Worked fine with Corno

Oh - and thanks to Mick for the info in the 1st place - hope you don't mind me passing it on!!

Adult females after bromating are fed every 6-7 days.
Adult females are fed every 7 days.
Adult males are fed every 10 days.

I would say he definitely needs to be on at least 2 pinks, we've actually just moved Corno up to fuzzies even though she's only 17g as she seemed to need it - she was roaming her faun after 24hrs on 2 pinks, gave her a fuzzy and she stayed hidden away for nearly 3 days! Also some people say to stick at 2 pinks for a while, whilst others say they shouldn't be kept on 2 pinks but moved up to fuzzies, so you have to use your own judgement there ;).

I posted this as it was given to me by Adam from Procorns, works well for me.

i agree with smart bunny about him wanting 2 pinks, 8 had 3 meals of 2 pinkies and had his first fuzz last night.
