Hello all,
received my new corn snake today and according to the records has not been fed since the 4/2/12 so thats 11 days now. i know you need to let them settle in for a few little while. Any advice please?

Thankyou.

Cheers for the advice. Got Seb out earlier quickly feed him in his feeding rub then after a few minutes put him back in his faun. With a little encouragement he ate it straight away took him like 20 sec next feed will most likely try 2 pinkys.
Thankyou once again.

when i got sharon she was due to eat 2 days later, which cut into the "leave for a week to settle" rule, but I plonked her straight into the feeding rub and gave her the pinky, which she scoffed no trouble, then straight back into viv with least amount of fuss/handling as I could possibly manage.

its your call really- but I had a non- feeding hatchie before sharon and wanted to keep to her routine, cos I couldn't be doing wiht all that stress again

personal preference its advised to let them settle, the day i brought my hatchy home it ate in a new fawn within a hour of getting back had no problems and was being handled 2 days later it all depends on you and the snake to be honest.

4 months old now he shed on the 2/2/12 then was fed on the 4/2/12. On the record i cant work out if its a 4 or 9 the writing is so scruffy. thinking about it im guessing its a 9. so thats 6 days. shall i leave a few more days then feed?

Hi there how old is the corn? Do you know why the last feed was a couple of weeks ago? Was it due to a shed etc? Ideally you should wait to feed it, to give it time to settle in. I have, however, fed snakes before the settling in period had finished, with full success, but purely because of the amount of time between feeds (esp in hatchlings)
