Hi guys.

I've got a 1yr old corn who is approx 18 inches long but still quite thin (about the size of a thick biro). she's getting too long for her original home, but I'm worried that if I put her in her lifelong vivarium she'll be able to escape through the gap between the 2 sliding doors. I don't really want to have to go to the expense of another home for her for what will probably only be a couple of months.

Any advice?

She is a little minx - can flatten right down to get through any gap and I just cannot get her to eat... :p

These things: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Durable-Spine-Bars-12mm-A4/dp/B000NJURGA/ref=sr_1_3?s=officeproduct&ie=UTF8&qid=1333009938&sr=1-3 just clip over the inside door edge as if the door was a sheaf of paper and it reduces the gap :) They are 30p each in my local stationary shop!

As you can see, my exceedingly rare pompom morph corn is very appreciative and is wanting to go back in her viv...

Any chance of a picture? My corn escaped this way and he is currently banished to his old smaller viv, which is a shame as he seemed to love exploring and climbing.

I ve seen two different wigglers jammed into the space between the two doors on an 18" viv- not vivexotic brand but almost identical, one was a teeny 5month old but the other was our sharon, not that long ago- and at the time she was way fatter thsn a biro.

the famous Errant Knave squoze his whole self through a half inch space, and he's over four foot and a good thick snake- about 2 inch diameter body.
when theyve got a mind to get through a gap, you'd be amazed at whats possible.

A folded piece of cardboard works well, just cut it to length and put in the gap between the sliding doors, at least that way you know for sure he's not getting out through the gap

not sure what make my viv is, but the gap is 5mm, you're right smart bunny don't think even a flea could get through half a mm, but the half cm gap, honestly he got through i don't know how, but he did, wish i had a picture now, there are others who have lost their corns this way

I had a similar problem to start my first going home orchialgia getting out almost recovered doors were closed no possible all most unconfining twice dose-limiting placable doors and only probably maybe Harpursville linear so I did was about half a cm wide. So I created a barrier now I bent some cardboard around both sides of the glass and selotaped both sides completely flat so not getting anywhere else. Creates a barrier so he cannot get through now.

I've ot a vivexotic and the gap is teeny! I still popped a paper binder on the inside door just to be super-duper certain - no way Corno can get through a 0.5mm gap lol!

Oh believe me they can!!!

My juvey of 12 months nearly escaped from my viv via the gap between the glass. He would have been approx the thickness of my thumb (an average womans thumb), i'd been out for the evening if i'd got back 5 minutes later i'd have had one missing snake - he was half way out from between the glass gap.

Never underestimate a snake thats found a way out

Are your vivs Vivexotic? Sorry but no way a year old snake will ever get through a 2mm gap, it's impossible.
