is it best to leave snakes alone when they're shedding?

All snakes are different. I know when Corno is heading into blue as she hides away and we don't see her except for my daily check to make sure she's in the viv lol!! She obviously wants to be left alone so I do so... but I DO get her out for a feed and she always feeds! Other snakes are happy to wander about, some refuse to eat.

Having said that, her 1st 2 sheds with us were very broken up so I did have to get her out in the end to help her shed by letting her push through wet kitchen roll.I think the only advice I would really stress is that if they are shedding you should never ever pull the shed yourself - trap it and hold it still if they need help, but don't pull, let the snake do the pulling!

thing with questions like this is people do different ways of looking after their snakies. thing is people can argue about whats right whats wrong but it cames down to listening to the advice and taking what u want out of it. at the end of the day their yours and if feeding them without problems and handling without problems then its your choice.

lightning acts like he is starved everytime i feed him, wether hes blue, shiny or anything inbetween. how ever midnight goes into a grump a week befor she goes milky, but will eat, wont eat the next week when shes in earlu blue, wont eat the next week after clearing but will scoof a mouse the day shes shed. depends on hte owner and the snake in regards to feeding.

as for handling, i handle as normal.

as for whilst actually shedding, i think if they start shedding whilst being handle is ok, but i would peel it off them if that makes sense x

I leave mine alone except for feeding, mine would eat themselves if allowed to go too long
