Posted - 15/05/2012 : 19:34:28 Hello. Can somebody help me? I've had my cornsnake for just under a year, and have just, in the past week, put him in a larger vivarium as he had outgrown his starter one. My query regards heat mats stats. At the moment he's got a heatmat on the floor of the viv (beneath the substrate), but I don't have a heat mat stat attached. Do I need one? And how do they work? Does the heat mat simply plug into the stat which then plugs into the mains? Or would a heat lamp be best? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure that Spider (my cornsnake) is happy and healthy. |

Posted - 15/05/2012 : 19:43:43 The stat controls the heat on your mat. ALot of stores will tell you mats do not go over 30 degrees max. This is untrue. I have a mat that the thermostat got knocked off and the temp of the rub when I noticed was in the 40's which is dangerously high.
If you do not want the snake to burn/overheat it is utmost important to have one xx |
