currently setting up my new faunarium and i was wondering if anybody had any neat tricks or tips for setting up?

one of my snakes is in a large flat faunarium, with a 6 x 11 inch heat mat controlled by a thermostat with the probe and a digital thermometer probe directly on the heat mat. temp between 27-29. i have a hide at each end.
