Posted - 16/07/2012 : 00:29:39 Hey =),
Some of you may know (if you have seen my other thread) that I lost my snake a few weeks ago... Still no sign of him what so ever =(, sooo I was thinking of maybe picking up another one at the Kempton show next month... (will be fully prepared if the other one turns up, probably will as soon as I bring another one into the house ;))
Im looking to get a hatchling or older (not too old) but is it true that you should only buy corns that are 6 months older... I know that people rehome them once they've had a certain amount of feeds, sheds, etc but how big/old is this generally?? Im thinking I was told this because of the size of the food so would anyone be able to tell me what size mice corns get from first hatching to a year??
Thanks for reading and any help =)
Oh and fingers still crossed for finding polo!!! |

Posted - 16/07/2012 : 10:35:41 Most corn hatchies will take full inkies from birth. Pinkie heads are only really fed to corns that are either very small or fussy eaters, reputable breedes wont sell hatchies that are only eating pinkie heads.
the vast majority of hatchies will be fed on full pinkies and wont be sold until they are proven feeders, usually 4 or 5 consecutive feeds.
If you are offered a corn that is only taking pinkie heads personally i wouldnt be taking it on. |

So are hatchlings fed pinkie heads until they move on to whole pinkies, what we're your 4/5 week olds eating?? Ideally I would just like a hatchling that's eating whole pinkies and not pinkie heads
So wish the Donny show wasn't so far!!
Thanks again =D |

Posted - 16/07/2012 : 09:25:30 as Above some of mine have been only 4 weeks old when ive got them just be sure to see feeding records before you buy if they are young as donnie said most breeders will insist on them having had 4-5 feeds minimum before being sold by which point they should be at least a month old

Posted - 16/07/2012 : 08:58:27 My pair were four weeks old. As long as they have had their first shed and first few feeds, I think it should be fine. At least then you know the snakeys have no issues |

Posted - 16/07/2012 : 00:34:35 I picked up Steve from Donny and he was about 5 weeks old. A reputable breeder won't sell his stock until they have had a good few feeds with them. They feed them pinkies from birth and if the hatchies are tiny then just a pinkies head. |
