I have been having a read through old posts, and from what i can see, most heat mats are placed under/outside the faunarium.
I was told to place it on the side wall outside the faunarium.
Why would this be? |

Posted - 17/07/2012 : 15:46:00 I ordered 3 and I think they're pretty reliable as they arrived all in the same packet and were within .1 of a degree of each other. |

Posted - 17/07/2012 : 14:35:55 Thermostats are renowned for not being accurate. Place the mat under the faun with the thermostat probe on top of mat. Place thermometer probe inside faun on floor above thermostat probe and regulate by temp shown on digi-thermometer. |

Posted - 17/07/2012 : 14:14:04 That's the right temp yeah. Though from what I've read so far it's not so serious if the temperature drops slightly lower, but you really don't want it going above 29. No it won't burn him. If you touch the mat you'll struggle to feel the warmth, and that's because it's almost 10 degrees lower than human body temperature.
If you can put the probe there then do so. I'm thinking of moving mine because I'm getting cooler temps than the thermostat is set to, and I think it's because the tub is absorbing some of the heat. In fact I'm sure it is. To get a reading of 27 and above, I'm having to keep my thermostat at 30-31. |

Posted - 17/07/2012 : 13:42:49 Just some poor advice I reckon. I think the best place is underneath the snake so they have the best possible chance of absorbing the heat. Mine's outside of the tub underneath, and the probe is between the mat and the tub. |
