Hi am posting for my son he has a corn snake its just shed and fine but need to know if it needs to be not handled and whether to feed as normal. Due a feed Saturday. Thanx Angela, Rob and Russell. |

Normally the snake will let you know whether it is happy to be held or not whilst shedding and the same with feeding. Once they have shed, it is best to handle them so that you can have a close look at them and make sure they shed properly (tail tip and eye caps especially). If they are due to be fed or missed a feed when in shed there is no harm in offering food once they have shed.
Apollo eats whilst in shed (even when blue! Greedy little pig ]:)] ) but he seems a bit more cautious and more quiet than normal when handled, possibly due to reduced vision so I choose not to handle him whilst he is in blue. Unless necessary for cleaning or transferring to feeding tub, I only handle when his eyes have cleared. |

My snake is fine to be handled and fed throughout the process - tbh i think he's just really greedy and will take any food he can get, regardless of how well he can see it.
When Kelloggs last shed, I handled and fed him that day without issues.
Is it your first shed? If so - make sure it's complete - eye caps and tail tip  |

hi, it is fine to handle after a shed and is usually a good idea too as you can give the snake a check over and ensure all the shed has come off, i usually feed them either that day they have shed or the day after if i have skipped a feed dueto them sheding. some people handle and feed throughout the shedding process. |
