Posted - 26/07/2012 : 22:05:22 I have been told that to sex a corn snake by its tail you should hold the tail out and look at the tail from the side not from underneath. If the tail half way down from the base at the vent is half the thickness or more of the base then its a male and if the tail half way down is less than half the thickness then its female. Is this right? Trying to determine if I have all males or not. Any pics of a confirmed female and confirmed male tail would be helpful if anyone can oblige I have looked online but the pics I find all look the same to me. |

Posted - 27/07/2012 : 13:45:19 theres going to be an article in the next PRK mag which is going to look at sexing snakes by apperance. If you've got the Kathy love book there is an example of tails in the breeding section, they give side and ventral views. like chris has said it isnt 100% gurantee |

Posted - 26/07/2012 : 22:14:50 Never heard of that way, I can be quessed by the taper from the vent down and scale count but nothing is as accurate as pooping for hatchlings an probing from older corns. Even then it can still be wrong. |
