Posted - 29/07/2012 : 14:18:00 Hi so I noticed last night that my thermostat has stopped working and the temp was way to high in flumps viv. I turned the mat off and I feel bad about it but the hot side was up to 105f
So will he be ok without the heat mat until Tuesday when the replacement stat comes ? |

Posted - 29/07/2012 : 20:47:01 Sounds like it stat then. Its a good idea to keep a spare. I have one of each type that I use spare. But its not a major issue if you don't as long as not been feed they will servive fine in the summer an in the winter when heating is OK they will be OK. |

Posted - 29/07/2012 : 18:30:56 Hi yes I checked that the probe hadn't been moved and also that the kids hadn't managed to get at the stat and change the temp, difficult as that would be for them lol also the viv was noticably warm and when I felt under the substrate it was clear that there was something wrong, it was way too hot in there
Thanks I am sending it back but have ordered a new one so he isn't without for longer than he has to be. Also after this I'm seeing the importance of having spare in case anything happens so after this I'll have a stat running and one just in case this happens again.
Thanks I just wanted to be sure he would be ok until then but I figured too hot is prob worse than too cold for a short time. |

Posted - 29/07/2012 : 15:59:33 Are you sure its the stat? Make sure the stat probe hasn't been moved an also check the thermometer is reading right as both these can cause issues. But as said leave mat off an don't feed u til sorted |
