Posted - 04/09/2012 : 15:17:32 About a month and a half ago, one of my hatchlings escaped due to a small crack in the rub I kept him in that allowed him to push the lid off. After setting traps, searching the entire house and many, many sleepless nights, I gave up on ever finding it back.
Yesterday, my dad found the little hatchie hiding under the scales in the bathroom. You can't imagine how happy I was to see that little snakey back :D |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 22:58:03 Ha-ha! Look at the size of it with so much character and attitude. He's a little cracker. No wonder you are glad to have him back. |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 21:47:33 Here's some pictures of the little escape artist!
Chilling out like a tree boa:

From the other side:

Gobble gobble gobble (note the little break in his head pattern behind his eye):

Nomnomnom (and how he doens't have that on the other side of his head):

And a bit of attitude now that his belly was full:

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 21:41:57 I'm currently installing an update that should improve security a little. With my current design, I can't add the extra questions though :( |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 15:19:26 I would disable registrations until you sort something out and get some real members. Sometimes you can add a secondary question to the registration process on top of the Captcha. A sneaky snakey general knowledge question such as 'How many legs does a Corn Snake have .. after it eats 3 frogs?' can trip up Auto-SPAMbots. |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 14:17:13 My non-existing admin team :p. I don't even have any real members on the forum. The thing is, the spammers on my forum ARE in fact spambots, but they are clearly getting past the captchas. I don't really feel ilke moderating posts by hand either for new users, so I'll just try to find a nice automated solution :) |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 13:10:12 I posted a 'FOA' in the general forum a couple of days ago as I didn't have any other way of contacting you.
I have served my time on another forum as Admin & SPAM Killer. A thankless task but satisfying in a power mad way. I made the cyber world smaller by blocking the IP's from half the known world.
Captcha only works well with Spambots, you really need to nail the pests as soon as they post and actually block the IP ranges. The longer you leave them building up then the more they will post. One effective method is to 'moderate/ hide' the first 5 or 10 posts and approve them as genuine members before making the posts visible. It will depend on the forum software and your Admin Team.

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 12:30:20 Nope, haven't seen any message :O May I ask where you sent / posted it?
I've already noticed the spammers though. I'm currently looking into changing the captcha and updating forum security in general, as these guys are a real pain! |

Glad to hear your little wanderer has turned up. |

Posted - 05/09/2012 : 10:46:10 It makes me wonder if the hatchie that mysteriously escaped last year (when I was away for a weekend. The viv was still closed when I came back) is still out there... I wonder if they could eat and survive on bugs if they were hungry enough. God knows there are enough bugs in our walls to support an army of snakes if they ate them... |
