*I believe the following, but may be wrong lol!*

Bloodred and diffused are terms which a lot of breeders use meaning the same thing. Although some insist that a true bloodred is a selectively bred diffused which is very very red, others insist that any diffused can be termed a bloodred. As the fire morph is a diffused amel (so could therefore be called bloodred amel by some) then it sounds like the breeder you got her from wanted to get all the 'cool-sounding' terms out when he specified the morph lol (or just didn't understand :P).

congrats, very nice looking clutch

Well I wish you the best :) it's an exciting time that's for sure.. Now the agonising wait for 60 or so days!!! :D

Well bloodred and Fire are different morphs.. Bloodred is the diffused gene, and fire is diffused+amel genes. So it could go either way, but Amels (het diffused) would be a lovely surprise! :D

Yes oakleyman18 this is her first clutch. I'm rather surprised at her laying 18! Not sure why but I've got it in my head that they're not going to be viable, heaven knows why? They all look prefectly normal today apart from one that she managed to knock out of her laying box.
I was told by the breeder that I got her from, and I have her records, that her father was a bloodred, fire morph. Anyone who knows me on here will tell you I'm cr*p with morphs so I'd have no idea what that means! I'm just looking forward to some healthy hatchlings.....

Ahhh something's just clicked with me!! The NAME of the snake is "fire", but it's not a fire morph! :) Then yes, all snakes would be normals, het amel (because of the dad), 50% poss het diffused (due to the father of the female being a diffused, making the mum 100% het diffused).

Great looking clutch though by the way, I count 18? Is this her first time? If so that's a cracking effort!

Wow,thats a very good clutch! Congrats
lupi lou Posted - 30/03/2013 : 22:10:41
oooh how exciting hope all goes well!
smart bunny Posted - 30/03/2013 : 20:30:42
Not an expert so could be wrong on this but I'll have a go lol :P

Hmmm, well a fire is diffused amel, so in that case Phoebe could be het amel and het diffused. So you could get some amels even if Sidney has no hets. Of course if he's het diffused then you could get diffused or even fires! Oooh this season is so exciting lol :D

Unless of course the Fire in brackets was his name rather than his morph... in which case the above is irrelevant and they will likely be normals lol!

Mum is my Carolina (Phoebe) her dad was a Bloodred (Fire) morph, so I was told.
Dad is my Amel (Sidney) who I have no history about.
I think that means any viable eggs would make Carolina (normal) hatchlings?
If you know any different please enlighten me!!
