                | Razee | Posted - 10/10/2013 : 20:23:45 Gmac's right, of course, nothing is exact where genetics/ multi genes are involved, I wasn't quite clear about that :-)
Re ultramel - I forgot about the co - dom :-0 -so, if it's not utramel or utra, and is just showing the amel ( therefore not carry for ultra gene ), would they still be classified as hybrid? What I mean, would they still carry some grey rat snake genes, if they're not ultra? My guess would be yes ?

Of course bear in mind that there is every possibility that your snakes have hidden hets too - so you may get some surprises as well!

oh thats definitely in mind smart bunny
. whatever happens when it comes time to start breeding it's going to be quite exciting. |

Yep, unless both parents have some other hets/ genes, you'd get normal motleys, 100% het anery, amel, ultra and caramel. The ultra gene is a hybrid gene ( though very, very low 100% ) , so in theory all the hatchlings would be hybrids.

they would be normal motleys, 100% het anery and caramel and either het ultra or amel. Cant be het for both ;) ultra and amel share the same place on the gene ladder and are co dom with each other so impossible to be het for both.

ah i see so that would be why i could only choose one or the other on reptilecalculator.com

No probs :-) . If you want to have a play with corncalc, it will give you the exact % you'd get, if you were to breed the babies.

may seem im being picky but the calc doesnt give you the exact % you would get it will give you the % chance per egg, there is no exacts in breeding with recessive genes

                | jelstone26 | Posted - 09/10/2013 : 16:28:44 ok. thanks again razee.

                | Razee | Posted - 09/10/2013 : 16:26:40 Difficult, they'd be 99% corn snakes, but I'd definitely mention the ultra gene, as many people consider anything with ultra gene a hybrid ( very strictly speaking, it is ).
If you kept male and female baby and bred them together, you' d get lots of different combos....
