To all my horsey ( and non horsey ) friends.
Last week on Monday, I lost my beautiful Welsh sec D mare. She was 22 years old, and suffering for several weeks with worsening laminitis and Cushings disease.
I made the heartbreaking decision to have her PTS, after she deteriorated fast over the weekend, and it looked like she was going to loose a hoof.
So, this is to Lucy ( aka Beaky ) - to me, you were the best horse in the world. The kindest, most beautiful, perfect for me in every way, and I will always remember you. Thank you for all the good times together, for all the rides we had, and for all the times I came to the field in tears, and left with a smile. I am missing you.

Wheels has put it perfectly Razee. I can't begin to imagine how you're feeling but, having ridden many years ago until my health stopped me, I do know the bond between horse and rider. So much more than non-horsey people can understand.
She was blessed to have you as her partner, as were you.

Never an easy decision to make, but sounds like the best for Lucy.
