So the snake is ok after the shed and everything is normal now around the vent? Was the shed thicker around that area then that makes you think it's retained shed that has come off this time?

I know it costs money to take snakey to a vet, but if you're still not sure, you really need to be a responsible owner and get it checked, whether snakey was cheap or expensive; you wouldn't want your pet to suffer any unnecessary pain or suffering

well believe it or not she just shed so you can scrap that picture, because it all come off with the shed???

I actually thought it might be that too after staring at the snakes bum picture for 15 minutes, lol. Its the swelling and the other possible prolapsing during pooping that leads me to think a quick examination by a vet would be the best course of action.

Its going to need some treatment, I'd also stop feeding as you dont want much passing through there until its sorted. What would worry me is the line of the wound (not sure what else to call it) does not follow the line of the vent scale.

been looking at thing on internet and looks like they ave monthly steroid things, for prolases. gunna cost a fortune

Awww that doesn't look right at all. I have no idea what it is but I personally think it needs to be seen by an exotics vet as soon as possible.

lil bit of swelling and two hard lumps either side of the bum scale bit, its rights it self but am worried, and shes not a special (expensive)corn but she the first i got, an dthe vets cost a fortune then more to fix her, n will email
lotabob Posted - 26/10/2011 : 18:23:58
If its gone back in it was maybe a slight prolapse that has righted itself. It is something to worry about as if it didn't right itself it would need immediate veterinary attention. Is there any swelling around the vent now?

Email pic to alocheeky (at) hotmail (dot) com and I will upload it for you.
