Posted - 01/09/2014 : 22:55:05 Unfortunately, still no sign of Sprite Not even any evidence that s/he has re-surfaced since going under. All the cornmeal is still undisturbed and none of the traps I've been using have worked at all. |

Posted - 27/08/2014 : 21:18:41 I've got cornmeal down in place of flour as we have no flour left and no talc powder. I do keep checking the area she disappeared into but there's no sign that she's even been back through that part let alone is staying in there This is the area she went down under... Very bad pictures as my camera and torch don't get on. I have a box with hides and water set up on top of a heat mat wrapped in an old t-shirt. The pinky hasn't worked at all so will try again on feeding day(Friday) instead. Just really worried because we have three cats... One of which I know for sure would "play" with her until she stopped moving and then leave her for me, my mum or -worst case scenario- My little sister to discover.

Posted - 27/08/2014 : 14:01:57 Well... As much as I thought I had prepared against this happening(knowing what they are like and how small they are) - It seems Number 12(Sprite or "Dora" as it is now called) has found a weakness in the lid of it's tub and got out. I noticed last night when I went to do the waters that the lid corner was up slightly. So I sat in the dark with my torch(it's a bright LED one so I filtered the light a bit) and waited to see if the little one would show. Sure enough, she poked her head out from under the skirting board. I sat and watched, waiting for her to come a little further out so i had room to pick her up(she's one of the friendliest) but instead she went back under and slithered along a bit further. She popped her head out again a bit further along and then went back under, found a gap and went under the floorboards... I left a heat mat with a bottle trap on top near the entrance of her escape route but nothing. This little one is a good eater though, so far hasn't missed a meal, and is due on Friday so I'm hoping she'll be tempted out at some point by the smell of brained pinky.I feel so stupid! I thought I'd prepared against this happening but apparently not! Needless to ay all the other tubs now have two rubber bands round them to keep the lids on!! |
